This almost 100-year old home had a grand, elegant front exterior at the start of the project. However, almost everything else was in need of renovation. Our approach to renovating the front exterior is echoed through the home. Keeping the natural stone facade and the symmetrical design of the outside, we enlarged all of the windows to maximize light and used white and black for accents. Simple cream plaster was used for the exterior additions, merging streamlined modern with classic century-old design. That’s what this 5,000 square foot home is all about — marrying timeless and modern. The home is imbued with natural light, multiple indoor/outdoor spaces and unique finishes throughout its family spaces, lounge/bar, 2 offices, 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms and finished basement. Selections and finishes give a sleek, urban aesthetic (punctuated by use of black metal throughout and curated lighting), while symmetry, classic materials (brick, natural woods) and architectural elements (arches) provide a classic foundation. The original staircase was moved to build a dramatic center staircase which is both functional and sculptural, lending to views of the 2-story breakfast nook window tower throughout the home. Result: a strikingly unique home filled with views of the outdoors.
