What It Feels Like to Build With MRC

My husband and I went through a lengthy process with our architect doing our research on the different contractors out there (and there are a lot!)…Mike was professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, patient, and had an appreciation for the structural integrity of our project as well as the architectural aesthetics of the project...MRC's contractors were all professional, respectful, courteous, and diligent - something that was important to me and my husband and 3 young boys, as we remained in the house throughout the project…

My wife and I worked with Michael Robert Construction on a home renovation project in 2018. We were extremely pleased with the level of knowledge, professionalism and quality that came from their team. We were working under a strict budget and they delivered a high quality product while staying on that budget. He did not nickel and dime us on small nuances or issues inherent with a major renovation on a 100 year old house. This was very important to us! The team of project managers and carpenters basically became part of the family during the project as they were always courteous and respectful of our needs while we lived through the construction.

We highly recommend Mike and the entire team at MRC. They worked closely with us to design and build a major home renovation and the results are fantastic! From the heated floors in our new mud room to the beautiful walk-in closet in our master BR to the completely renovated open kitchen, everyone in our family has a new favorite part of the house. Once construction began the team showed up every day and was able to stick to the detailed time line, which was really important since we decided to remain in the house during construction. Our project manager was terrific – beyond coordinating the project he was just so friendly and happy to keep my kids informed of what was going to happen next. Lines of communications were always open and they were always quick to respond to any questions or concerns that we had. Mike and his team gave us great advice along the way when we needed it, which helped us make the right decisions during the construction process. We would definitely work with Mike and the MRC team again.

I have had the pleasure of working with Michael Robert Construction on several projects. The staff is very knowledgeable, they are extremely detail oriented and they take tremendous pride in their work. It is always smooth sailing working with Michael Robert Construction and I HIGHLY recommend them!

We hired Michael Robert Construction for a complete home renovation and we could not be happier with the results! Mike and our project manager were extremely professional, collaborative, and very mindful of what we were looking for. Our house was built in the 1930's and we wanted to make the house more functional but still keep the character intact. They added great details that we never would have thought of, and all of the sub-contractors performed high quality work… We absolutely love our new home!

MRC renovated the majority of our house and we love living in it. Their construction process was well managed from weekly walk throughs to having a point of contact that would directly answer any questions or concerns we had throughout the process. The in-house cabinetry is beautiful (office and living room pictures) and their custom kitchens and bathrooms are stunning as well. We partnered with Ellie Mroz Design (EMD) which made for a wonderfully integrated design and construction process.

Michael Robert Construction did a fantastic job on our home renovation! He and his extended team were extremely polite and courteous. MRC was on time and within budget.

When my husband told me again that he wasn’t moving from our home in Scotch Plains I told him that I was going to finally build my dream kitchen. It wasn’t much of a decision to retain MRC since I had known of Michael’s reputation and seen pictures of his work. What I didn’t expect was his incredible team that worked tirelessly to make my dream become a reality. I have done a few renovations over the years but have never seen an operation like this….from the web programs they use for correspondence and project updates ….to organized loose leaf books with all pertinent information at hand. The team assigned to our project was unrivaled. From the project managers and creative team to the carpenters and subs they retained. They all took great care in the work and always cleaned up at the end of the day. Of course, the most important aspect is the final product. My kitchen is gorgeous and everything I’ve always wanted. I was a bit nervous that it wouldn’t fit into the decor/gestalt of the rest of the house (split level built in the 60’s) but there is definitely the flow and warmth to the space that I had envisioned. Once I started with the project I found myself requesting additional work and by the end of the renovation I had close to a totally new house (without moving any outside walls). I must also state that most of the project was done while my husband and I were in Florida for the winter. I had complete confidence that everything would be taken care of and that the team would always have our best interests at heart. We received weekly phone calls, as well as weekly project updates. They made sure that when we arrived back home that everything was completed and that we would be greeted to our “new” home, accessorized and all! I will miss not speaking to … regularly but know that I’ll always be greeted like an old friend if I needed them.

We recently completed a seven-month whole-home renovation and addition with the MRC team, and we cannot recommend them enough. From start to finish, the level of care, attention, and hospitality demonstrated by the entire MRC team was unlike anything we had experienced before. The quality of the finished product exceeded our expectations. Just as importantly, the project was completed on schedule and within the budget originally outlined by the team. Given that our home is more than 100 years old, we anticipated unexpected challenges along the way. However, whenever issues arose, MRC came to us with solutions, not problems, and worked tirelessly to ensure that we experienced as little stress as possible throughout the process. Every member of the team was professional, responsive, and a genuine pleasure to work with. Their seamless collaboration with the EMD team created a truly integrated experience, making the entire renovation process remarkably smooth and efficient. A whole-home renovation is a significant undertaking, but MRC delivered an exceptional result while making the journey enjoyable from beginning to end. We are thrilled with our home and are incredibly grateful to the entire MRC and EMD teams for bringing our vision to life.

Michael Robert Construction recently finished a project in my Westfield, NJ home. My family and I are truly enjoying living in our newly designed home. MRC was extremely professional, detailed oriented, creative and approachable. They have an online communication system that enabled me to communicate with their team 24/7 and they always responded immediately. They kept us advised re: the schedule of the project and suggested adding details that made the end result above and beyond our expectations. They have been in the business for a long time and their experience and expertise definitely are evident in the end product. We couldn't be happier!

My wife and I worked with Michael Robert Construction (MRC) and Ellie Mroz Designs (EMD) to build and design our new home. When we began the process we had an inspiration and a few images of what we wanted our new home to look like and they took those ideas and enhanced them greatly into a concrete vision. We could not be happier with the end product from aesthetic, design and quality standpoint. From start to finish it was an open and transparent working relationship which greatly fostered a relationship of trust, which in my mind is so critical considering the amount of financial, time and emotional investment in this type of venture. The MRC X EMD team is extraordinarily creative...they did a fantastic job in guiding the process adding their creative touches to the layout, the finer details of the build, the use of natural lighting and space, the selection of all the fixture, appliances, amenities, furnishings, etc....this was all done in a very collaborative and easy way. They also have been very responsive throughout the entire build and post-completion with punch list items. Building a house can be very overwhelming and stressful in the best of times, we will always be appreciative of how Mike, Ellie and the rest of the team provided a steady hand during the pandemic which added an extra layer of stress during incredibly uncertain times. We are very proud of the home they built for us, it is our dream home and we will continue with EMD to furnish our home. A++++

We chose Mike and Ellie (Michael Robert Construction and Ellie Mroz Design) to build and design our home not only because of their impeccable taste and attention to every detail, but because they joined us on our homebuilding journey. Building a home from the ground up is both exciting and stressful all at the same time. Having an incredibly creative design/build team with us, to bounce ideas off, make decisions with, and answer all our questions was exactly what we were looking for. MRC X EMD build true custom homes that are unique to each of their clients, and push the status quo of home building. We began with discussions of what was important to us, and how we envisioned living in our home. We wanted to merge the original beauty of the home, built in 1937, with our needs for today’s modern living. Mike and Ellie brought us unique design ideas that made our vision a reality. They focus on elements and details only true design experts think about, including blending use of different materials, perspectives from every angle, layering trim, unique lighting opportunities, and tying everything together harmoniously. We ended with the perfect home, for our family, with distinctive and personal details throughout. We can’t thank Mike, Ellie and their entire team enough, for not only building our incredible home but for their expertise, professionalism, support, and always pushing design to the next level.

We recently used MRC for a major renovation, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Their project management was excellent throughout the entire process, keeping everything organized, on schedule (and budget) and running smoothly. One thing we especially appreciated was how closely they worked with us to refine the design drawings. They took time to make adjustments and collaborate until they knew the plans reflected exactly what we wanted. At every stage, they made sure we felt comfortable, answered all of our questions thoroughly, and were always prompt in responding to any inquiries. The MRC crew was a pleasure to work with - friendly, hardworking, and clearly committed to delivering quality work. They transformed our home into a modern, beautiful space that we are excited to enjoy for many years to come. We would highly recommend MRC to anyone considering a renovation project. We also highly recommend using interior design services through EMD. It was one of the best investments we made in the project and ensured a cohesive, polished look that we would not have been able to achieve on our own. They also made coordination across design and construction seamless to make the entire process significantly easier.

The entire MRC team did an amazing job on my exterior renovation. This was a MRC x EMD project, which is such a great combination of beautiful design work coupled with beautiful custom construction, obsessive attention to detail, high quality work and custom finishes that make their homes so special. Just a great experience, project management … and the entire MRC team, so professional, organized and always went the extra mile to deliver such a beautiful home that I am so excited to have.
