Questions Before You Begin.
What types of projects are a good fit for Michael Robert Construction?
We focus on custom homes, additions, whole-home renovations and other substantial residential projects. Our work is a good fit for homeowners who value thoughtful design, detailed planning and an accountable construction team. Smaller kitchen, bathroom or finish improvements are included within a large-scale project.
Do I need an architect before I start working with MRC?
No. You do not need to hire an architect or have architectural plans completed before contacting Michael Robert Construction.
For clients choosing our design-build process, MRC can manage the architectural and preconstruction process from the beginning. We document existing conditions, evaluate zoning and feasibility, develop the design and coordinate the architect of record, engineering and other required professionals—all managed through MRC as one integrated process.
This approach allows design, construction feasibility and budget to develop together rather than having a project designed in isolation and priced only after the drawings are complete. It also gives our clients a single, highly coordinated team responsible for moving the project from early ideas through permitting and construction.
If you already have an architect or architectural plans, that's equally welcome. MRC regularly collaborates with outside architects and can join the process at any stage to provide budgeting, constructability and preconstruction expertise.
And on either path, clients may choose to incorporate Ellie Mroz Design for Construction Consulting and/or Furnishings, creating an even more integrated approach to architecture, construction and interiors.
Can MRC build from my architect's plans?
Yes. We work with outside architects and designers as a construction partner. We review the plans, identify questions that affect pricing and construction, and help align the work with your priorities while respecting the design intent.
Do I have to use Ellie Mroz Design?
No. EMD is an optional interior design and furnishings partner for either way of working with MRC. EMD's Construction Consulting and construction-related design are available when MRC is the builder. Furnishings engagements begin with at least one complete room of interior design.
Where does MRC work?
