About This Project

The downtown Westfield office of Michael Robert Construction and Ellie Mroz Design was a true labor of love. The goal was to seamlessly merge historical elements with cutting edge technology and a modern aesthetic. Achieving this entailed rediscovering hidden features and recreating those lost with a contemporary touch. The original tile floor was restored, and new custom cabinetry was added to delineate workspace. Original windows were enhanced with custom leaded glass transoms and walnut bench seats. This space received a Harry Devlin Award from the Westfield Historic Preservation Commission in 2018, for a restoration that included replicating the leaded glass transom windows with a grant from the Downtown Westfield Corporation. It is daily inspiration in the place where we work, live and love.
