Biggest fans (and offspring) of Mike and Ellie. When these 2 brothers and best friends aren’t playing football or basketball, they can often be found with their hammers at demo sites and offering advice on opening up homes.
MRCxEMD was tasked with refreshing this spacious Westfield, NJ home with a kitchen, family room, office space, foyer and full bathroom renovation. While the home already had some incredible features like the natural stone interior accent walls, the homeowners wanted to brighten and refresh the majority of the first floor and backyard. Floor plan changes included creating the steel and glass pantry from a closed-in office and adding an additional tucked-away storage pantry where there was previously underutilized space. For coffee-and-news loving clients, we added a dedicated coffee bar as well as a hydraulic-powered pop-up television hidden in the island. Using the existing stone accent features as our palette guide, we designed an organic, light-filled aesthetic layered with unique custom finishes and natural materials. Ellie Mroz Design selection choices (countertop, tiles, lighting, hardware, walls, furnishings) brought it all together. White oak accents created cohesion between the kitchen and family room. Notable elements in the family room include a custom bar with a wood-fluted rounded corner, plaster finished walls, and ceiling millwork which is a modern, clean take on a coffered ceiling. Custom luxury anchored by organic materials, accomplished!
