Westfield NJ architectural cedar home rendering with cedar accents

About This Project

The MRCxEMD team was tasked with giving a tired 1962 Westfield, NJ home a fresh start for a modern, young family of five. Carefully selected finishes, cedar architectural accents and trellis work gave the exterior of the home a charming, fresh aesthetic with massive curb appeal (see rendering here). With careful planning, we took home from 2106 square feet to 3200 feet, taking family needs into account for every square foot. A first floor addition in the back of the home was used to create an open floor plan mindful of maximizing exposure to the yard, full of park views and a babbling brook. A roomy kitchen equipped with a large custom island and walk-in pantry resulted, as well as a mudroom with plentiful custom storage and a bench nook for taking in the backyard. The team also expanded the second floor, creating a primary bedroom suite with a walk-in custom closet and a primary bathroom outfitted with a stand-alone bathtub and two full vanities. The second floor also houses three additional bedrooms, another full bathroom and a spacious laundry room. Lastly, the existing basement was finished to create an open recreation space with a full bathroom. Classic materials and carefully chosen lighting, millwork, stone, tile and hardware created a bright forever home infused with a classic and fresh vibe.
